ACT’s Accomplishments in 2018


ACT – Autism Community Training is British Columbia’s leading provider of community-based professional development and parent training in autism and special needs.  Since 2010, ACT has trained over 17,000 registrants, providing 143,000 hours of live training featuring leading clinicians and researchers.

 

In 2018, ACT provided:

  • Over 19,000 hours of training to nearly 2,000 registrants featuring provincial and international experts – a 55% increase for both hours of training and registrants over 2017;
  • 14 evidence-based training opportunities across a wide-range of topics;
  • Training in four B.C. cities: Surrey, Vancouver, Nanaimo and Victoria;
  • Web streaming to allow over 700 registrants to join five training events from all regions of BC and beyond. This is 138% more web streaming viewers than ACT hosted in 2017;
  • $21,000 in bursaries in the form of reduced registration fees for low income registrants.

In 2018, ACT trained:

  • Over 900 professionals including physicians, CLBC Facilitators, social workers, psychologists, speech language pathologist, occupational therapists, behavior analysts and teachers;
  • Over 500 family members, including parents and foster parents;
  • 350 para-professionals -staff from group homes, school districts and early intervention programs.

 

In 2018, ACT’s live event web streaming:

  • Trained 700 registrants across five web streamed events.
  • Reached audiences from Vancouver Island to Nova Scotia.
  • Provided professional development to both individuals and school teams of up to 50.
